With April on the wane, I’m already in summer mode. I’ve been checking out the dates when my “office on the beach” is available for my annual summertime getaway–a few days of sleeping late, eating shrimp, and reading, reading, reading. Next month, I’m giving away a “Beach Reads” prize to one reader. It includes a beautiful white and blue Lands End canvas beach tote filled with a colorful beach towel, flip flops, sunscreen, a pair of fun red framed sunglasses, and loads of great books—everything you need for summertime reading at the beach. In June, I’ll be giving away more books on Goodreads.
As soon as the entry details are in place, I’ll post them here and on Facebook. I hope you’ll hang out and enter to win. It’s going to be a great summer.
I love this historic beach house on Pawley’s Island, the way it nestles into the dunes. It reminds me of lazy days by the sea, collecting shells, sipping lemonade, and reading books from the comfort of a Pawley’s Island hammock. It isn’t summer to me until I have dipped my toes in the ocean.
What says “summer” to you? Berry picking? A trip to the mountains? A family road trip? Lemonade on the back porch? Leave a comment and let me know. I love hearing from you.
Oh, yes. By the way, I have a cousin who lives on Pawley’s island and many cousins and friends who live in that entire area. I love it!
Me, too, Harriet. It’s such a beautiful and soothing place, and the history surrounding it is fascinating. thanks for stopping by here.
Hi, Dorothy
I love summer, it has always been my favorite season. Lots of memories from my childhood in Texas. Boating, swimming, playing with the water hose with my sisters, laying on the warm pavement of the driveway to dry. Setting up a lemonade stand at the end of the drive way. The feel of the sun on my skin and knowing that God is Lord of all this Bliss. And now, I love to go to the beach with my closest gal friends. No, men just us (girls), 55-62 years young. Loving God and each other. Loving him and thanking him for bringing us back to our youth if only for a short while.
Hi Kathy,
I LOVED reading your childhood memories. My brothers and I used to make Kool Aid but we usually drank it all before any customers happened by.:) Beach trips…ah. My favorite thing. And how wonderful to have a group of friends to share it all. Thanks so much for writing to me. Always a joy to hear from you all. Dorothy
