In Search of Robin Hood

Recently I posted here that I have added a new blog over on Substack. Today’s post is about Robin Hood.

When I was a child my dad gave me a gorgeous illustrated book of stories. I remember the illustration of a handsome man dressed in green, holding a bow and arrow. I’m sure I read the accompanying text dozens of times.

I hadn’t given much thought to Robin in many a year but he appeared on my radar after I read Kristin Harmel’s new novel, The Stolen Life of Colette Marceau. In the novel, Colette’s mother Annabel trains her daughter to be a jewel thief in order to help the Jewish people suffering under the Nazis in Paris. Annabel tells Colette they are descended from Robin Hood.

So naturally the historian in me went in search of links to a real person. I hope you enjoy reading the results of my dive into the records.

If you like reading the history behind the novels I write, and the novels I read, come on over and join me at INSIDE STORY. I usually post just twice a month and my content is always free for everyone. Just click on the link below.
